Heneghan welcomes opening of 34 new homes for older people in Coolock

Independent TD for Dublin Bay North, Barry Heneghan, has warmly welcomed the official opening of the newly redeveloped Glin Court housing complex in Coolock, which provides 34 modern homes for older people.
Speaking after attending the opening with the Lord Mayor of Dublin Ray McAdam and the Minister for housing James Browne, Deputy Heneghan said the development marks a major step forward in delivering high quality, age friendly housing on the Northside.
Heneghan said, “the new homes will allow older residents to remain close to family, friends and local services, in a safe and supportive environment they know well.”
The redevelopment replaces the former 1970s complex on the same site, which had become unsuitable for modern living. The new scheme includes fully accessible ground floor units, lift access, private balconies, landscaped gardens, and communal facilities for residents and community activities.
The Independent TD said, “this is exactly the kind of regeneration Dublin needs, modern, energy efficient homes built to universal design standards that help people age well in their community,” Deputy Heneghan added. “Coolock has a proud tradition of strong neighbourhood life, and this project strengthens that fabric.”
Deputy Heneghan paid tribute to the residents, Dublin City Council staff, design team and contractors who made the project possible, noting that the scheme also forms part of a wider programme of older persons housing across the city.
“Every person deserves to live in comfort and security, regardless of age,” he said. “Glin Court shows what can be achieved when good design, local input and strong public investment come together. It is a positive model for future housing developments across Dublin Bay North.”
