Uisce Éireann is currently working to restore normal water supply to homes and businesses in Balbriggan and surrounding areas of North County Dublin following a large burst to a water main which has resulted to low water levels at Jordanstown Reservoir this morning.
Water service crews are on site and have commenced work to repair the burst water main.
The areas affected include Drogheda Street, Dublin Street, Lambeecher, Bath Road, Caoimhin Park, Curran Park, Pinewood, Balscadden, Flemington Road, Flemington Park, Barnageera, Skerries, Naul Road, Ringcommon, Balrothery Village, The Naul, Man O’War, Palmerstown, Hollywood, Castlelands and surrounding areas.
Uisce Éireann is endeavouring to return supply as quickly as possible and also protect the water supply to priority customers which can include nursing homes, schools and hospitals.
It will take a number of hours to complete the repair and to restore normal supply to all customers affected by this unplanned outage.
Customers will have their water restored at different stages throughout the day as the reservoir recovers.
Following repair works, it typically takes three to four hours for normal supply to be fully restored to all areas as the water refills the network, especially for those on higher ground or at the end of the network.
Tselopile Tlou, Uisce Éireann Water Operations Manager, said: “We understand the inconvenience when a burst of this nature occurs, and we are working to repair to the burst as quickly as possible.
“We anticipate that water will be restored to everyone by this evening. Again, we thank the community for their understanding at this time.”
Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
The customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and customers can also contact them on X @IWCare with any queries.
