How to look after your mental health and wellbeing in Balbriggan during Mental Health Month

Thrive Balbriggan has announced Thrive Alive programme of events which will take place on October 5th and October 10th, in Balbriggan to celebrate mental health in October and to mark World Mental Health Day.

Thrive Alive aims to raise awareness of mental health through meaningful activities and will start on Saturday 5th October with Beach Yoga session and Sea Swim at 10am at Balbriggan King’s Strand Beach.

On Thursday, October 10th, the plan of activities includes:

  • Service Expo in Bracken Court Hotel Balbriggan, 10am-11am
  • Connect Café with participants from the community and service providers in Bracken Court Hotel Balbriggan, 11am-1pm
  • The Wellness Workshops: An introduction to WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Planning), The Turret Room, Balbriggan Library, 2pm – 3pm
  • Creativity for Wellbeing Workshop, Bracken Court Hotel, 2pm-4pm
  • Chairobics &Chair Exercises, The Hamilton Hall, Balbriggan Library, 2pm-3pm
  • Evening talk by Dr. Colman Noctor, Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytical Psychotherapist, The Lark Concert Hall in Balbriggan, 7pm-9pm.

Dr. Colman Noctor will address the challenge that individuals and communities face in the post-pandemic life such as anxiety, loneliness and disconnection.

Dr. Noctor will speak about the importance and value of reconnecting with yourself and your community and will share tips on how to add purpose and meaning to our life.

Caroline Brogan, Mental Health Ireland Development Officer and Lead for Thrive Ireland said: “Thrive Alive is a celebration of the ongoing success of Thrive Balbriggan with a series of events thoughtfully curated to nurture meaningful connections across the community.

“We are especially excited to welcome Dr. Colman Noctor, to The Lark, where he will offer valuable insights and practical strategies for supporting our youth and promoting mentally healthier communities.”

Thrive Alive programme has been prepared in collaboration with Swim Ireland, The Lark Concert Hall, Empower, Active Cities Fingal and Fingal Sports Office.
