Uisce Éireann working to restore water supply following large burst impacting Malahide, Portmarnock and surrounding areas

Padraig Conlon 31 Jul 2024

Uisce Éireann says it is working to restore the water supply “as quickly as possible” to impacted customers in Malahide, Portmarnock and surrounding areas following a significant burst to a water main.

Expert water services crews have been dispatched to isolate and repair the burst main and every effort is being made to complete this work as quickly as possible.

The current estimated restoration time is 7pm today but it may take a number of hours after this for normal supply to return to all customers.

Impacted areas include Malahide, Portmarnock, Seapark, Seamount and surrounding areas.

As per best practice, most homes and businesses will have on-site water storage to provide a backup source of water for sanitation purposes.

Tselo Tlou with Uisce Éireann, commented: “We are mobilising crews to repair the burst main and work on restoring water supply to homes and businesses as quickly as possible. We understand the inconvenience an unplanned outage can have on residents and businesses and appreciate your patience.”

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
