Fingal Senator Lorraine Clifford-Lee has welcomed new figures showing 3,321 new homes have commenced construction in Fingal in the first six months of this year.
This represents an 233.1% increase on the same period in 2023, when 997 homes commenced construction.
Nationwide, a total of 33,784 homes started construction between January and the end of June. This figure is more than double (up 117%) from the 15,561 units commenced in the first half of 2023.
Senator Clifford-Lee said: “I’m delighted to have received confirmation from my party colleague, Minister for Housing Darragh O’Brien, that 1,841 new homes were commenced here in Fingal in the first six months of this year, an increase on the same period last year.
“Not only are the number of new residential homes being built in Fingal increasing, the figures nationwide are also rising, up 117% on the same period last year.
“Fianna Fáil’s top priority in government remains doing everything we can to help people to afford to buy or rent a home.
“These statistics are evidence that our Housing for All plan is working and my focus is on doing whatever I can to keep this positive momentum going.”
