Free outdoor exercise programme launched for Fingal residents

Dublin People 27 Jun 2024

As summer begins in earnest, Fingal County Council’s Sports Office has launched the Fingal ParkFit outdoor exercise programme, designed to promote health and wellness across the community.

No matter your fitness level, Fingal has skilled instructors leading participants through each workout and making sure the sessions are both enjoyable and effective in the great outdoors. The 10-week programme starts in July, offering a variety of free classes in the beautiful parks and green spaces across Fingal.

Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Brian McDonagh, said: “It’s great to see the growth of the Fingal ParkFit programme over the past three years. These outdoor exercise classes are a fantastic way to get fit, meet new people and explore the wonderful parks in Fingal.”

This year, the Fingal ParkFit programmes will run across 15 locations in the county. These aim to make fitness accessible to everyone, regardless of age or fitness level. All classes are led by certified fitness instructors who are passionate about helping participants achieve their fitness goals in a supportive and enjoyable environment.

Why Participate?

  • Health and Wellness: Regular physical activity improves mental and physical health, boosts energy, and reduces stress.
  • Community: Meet new people and build a sense of community while exercising in the fresh air.
  • Free Access: All classes are free, removing financial barriers to fitness.

Brendan, a participant from last year’s programme, said: “Fingal ParkFit has been a fantastic way for me to stay active and meet new friends. The instructors are motivating, and the parks provide a beautiful setting for exercise.”
