Donabate estate residents still left in dark

Social Democrats councillor Paul Mulville has reiterated calls for Fingal County Council to fix what he calls the lighting “debacle” at Cobbe Court in Donabate.

Mulville noted that Cobbe Court is a relatively new development in Donabate, but the public street lighting in the estate has still not been turned on despite people moving in over a year ago.
Cobbe Court, on the Portrane Road, is a relatively recently built housing development in Donabate, which the residents happily call home.”
“This is leaving people feeling unsafe, vulnerable and worried at night-time, without their street lighting on,” he said.
“I have been consistently raising the lack of public lighting in the Cobbes Court estate with Council management who tell me that “a contract has been signed with a provider for street lighting on 5th December 2023 and is now with ESB Networks for processing.”
Mulville said the issue is taking “far too long” to resolve, saying it should be a “relatively simple matter to address.”
“The frustration of residents who are being left in the dark – both literally and figuratively – cannot be allowed continue.”
“I am again calling on Council management to compel the developer to have this addressed without further delay”, he said.
