The Pedalpalooza Cycle Parade will depart at 11.30am from Dublin’s Capel Street and is led by none other than the Lord Mayor of Dublin Daithí de Róiste. Participants are advised to gather on Capel Street between Ryders Row and Mary Street (near the Black Sheep Pub) from 11am for a family-friendly, traffic-free cycle parade through city streets, finishing at Fairview Park right on time to enjoy all of the fun! If you wish to take part, make sure to register HERE on Eventbrite.

Lord Mayor of Dublin Daithí de Róiste said, “I’m delighted to lead the Pedalpalooza Cycle Parade this Bike Week.

Bike Week celebrates the benefits of cycling and encourages new people to take part.

The cycle parade is a unique opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to take part in a traffic-free cycle through city streets.

There’s a wonderful programme of activities taking place in Fairview Park after the cycle, so I encourage families to come along and join in the fun!”

Ailish Lally, Walking & Cycling Officer with Dublin City Council’s Traffic Section said: “I’m excited about cycling through the traffic-free streets of Dublin with people from all over the city and to go on to enjoy bike-themed fun for people of all ages and abilities at the Pedalpalooza festival in Fairview Park.

“Be sure to join us to celebrate all things bike this Bike Week!”

Carmel O’Callaghan, Active Cities Officer with the Sport & Wellbeing Partnership said, “The Pedalpalooza Cycle Parade was such fun last year, everyone loved having the opportunity to cycle safely through the city.

“Active Cities is all about getting Dubliners to become more active, so we would encourage everyone of all ages and abilities to join in our cycle parade.”

Pedalpalooza, organised by Dublin City Council and funded by the Department of  Transport, seeks to demonstrate the various ways cycling can be integrated into  everyday life and to promote a more sustainable urban mobility culture.

Participants  will learn about the benefits of cycling and how sustainable modes of transport can  have a positive impact on our health, our bank balance and our environment.

In keeping with this theme, Dublin City Council is encouraging all Pedalpalooza attendees to walk or cycle to the event where possible with free bike parking  available at the park.
