Crews working to repair burst to a large water main in Santry
Padraig Conlon 29 Aug 2023Uisce Éireann says it is working with Fingal County Council to restore water supply ‘as quickly as possible’ to impacted customers following a large burst to a water main in Santry.
Following reports of an outage yesterday evening, expert water services crews were immediately dispatched to find and fix the burst which was located at a busy four-way junction.
Due to the location of the burst, traffic management was required in order to safely carry out the works.
Following agreement with the planning authority this morning, traffic management was implemented and crews were immediately dispatched.
Repairs are progressing and are expected to be completed by this evening, after which the water supply will begin to restore to customers.
Areas currently impacted by the burst include Northwood Avenue, Furry Park Industrial Estate, Woodford Business Park, North Ring Business Park, Old Airport Road, Dardistown, Swords Road and surrounding areas in Santry.
Following repairs, it can take 2 to 3 hours for normal water supply to return to all customers as water refills the network.
Alternative water supply provision
To support customers, alternative water supplies will be made available and an update will be provided regarding the location points of these supplies as soon as possible.
Tselo Tlou, Uisce Éireann, commented: “Every effort is being made to reduce the impact on homes and businesses and restore water supply as quickly as possible and repairs are progressing well.
“The works are complex due to the location of the burst and the need for traffic management to ensure the safety of crews and commuters.
“We understand the inconvenience unplanned outages can have on our customers and we appreciate their patience while we work to return normal water supply to all impacted customers.”
