Essential upgrade works taking place in Skerries on Monday night (22nd) from 10pm until 2am

Uisce Éireann, in partnership with Fingal County Council, say they wish to advise customers in Skerries and surrounding areas that a temporary, overnight disruption to their water supply will be necessary on Monday, 22 May from 10pm until 2am the following morning.

This is due to essential upgrade works on the local water network to ensure the continued delivery of clean, safe drinking water to homes and businesses.

This project is being delivered under Uisce Éireann leakage reduction programme.

During the works, customers in Skerries and surrounding areas will be impacted by reduced water pressure and intermittent water outages.

Following the improvement works, it may take 2 to 3 hours for normal supply to return as water refills the network.

The works have been planned to take place overnight to minimise disruption to customers.

As per best practice, most homes and businesses will have on-site water storage to provide a backup source of water for sanitation purposes.

Uisce Éireann advises customers to familiarise themselves with their storage capacity.

Matt Thomson, Uisce Éireann, explained “Uisce Éireann is committed to enabling communities across Dublin to thrive by continuously upgrading and developing our critical infrastructure.

“These essential works are necessary to continue to provide homes and businesses in Skerries and surrounding areas with a clean, safe drinking water supply.

“We understand that this type of work may be disruptive to the local community which is why our experienced water services crews will work throughout the night to complete the works and restore normal water supply as quickly as possible.”

In order to complete the works safely and efficiently, traffic management in the form of a stop/go system will be in place on the R128 (Rush Road) near the junction with Shenick Road for the duration of the works.

GMC Utilities Group Ltd are carrying out the works on behalf and of Uisce Éireann.

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.

Following this type of work, occasionally issues such as cloudy water (air bubbles), discolouration or internal airlocks may arise.
