Dublin LGFA players Sinéad Aherne and Carla Rowe officially open Lidl’s newest Dublin stores
Padraig Conlon 01 Dec 2022Dublin LGFA players Sinéad Aherne and Carla Rowe joined the team at Lidl Clonshaugh and Lidl Tyrrelstown to officially open the brand-new store on Clonshaugh Road and re-open the newly constructed Tyrrelstown store.
Just in time for Christmas, Dublin shoppers will be able to shop Lidl’s renowned range of high-quality products at market-leading prices through the more modern shopping experience.
Combined, the new stores see more than 40 new jobs created in the county.
A further 100 jobs were also supported during the development and construction of both stores.
The new stores have a spacious layout featuring high ceilings, wide aisles and an improved shop floor.
They also provide increased natural light for customers and employees with glass fronted glazing, LED lighting and an energy efficient heating system provided by 100% green energy.
Roof mounted solar panels allows the stores to generate approximately 25% of its own energy requirements.
Both store grounds feature ample customer car parking with EV charger points and a wildflower garden creating a haven for pollinators like bees, butterflies and hoverflies, which are essential for the production of the fresh fruit and vegetables that Lidl Ireland is renowned for.
Commenting on the Clonshaugh new store opening Lidl Store Manager, Roisin Grogan said:
“We’ve had an ambition to bring our award-winning products and market leading value to Clonshaugh and we’re delighted to open our doors just in time for Christmas.
“Our brand-new, state-of-the-art store features a fresh bakery, spacious aisles and of course our incredible Lidl prices which are sure to impress.
“We’re delighted to welcome new shoppers through our doors in the coming weeks and months and making a positive impact on this thriving community in the years to come.”
Commenting on the Tyrrelstown re-opening Lidl Store Manager, Thomas Kelly said:
“We’re delighted to see so many familiar faces through the doors this morning.
“On behalf of the entire team, I want to thank our customers and local community for their patience during the construction works – I know they will agree that it was worth it! The new store offers a more spacious shopping experience and looks fantastic.”
Lidl’s strong commitment to sustainability and community engagement is a core focus in all the retailer’s locations.
The Clonshaugh community can look forward to fundraising for Ladies Gaelic Football clubs and schools in the area, additional charity groups supported with FoodCloud donations and more funding for youth mental health through Lidl Ireland’s charity partner Jigsaw – the National Centre for Youth and Mental Health.
To mark the new store openings, Lidl Clonshaugh donated €500 in Lidl vouchers to PACE Organisation and a local sports club, with Lidl Tyrrelstown donating €1,000 in Lidl vouchers to Little Seeds Arch Club, a local social club for children and teens with autism.
