Irish Water is carrying out essential repair works in North County Dublin today to safeguard the water supply for homes and businesses.

Following continued monitoring, Irish water and Fingal County Council have identified a further leak on the large trunk water main in Lissinhall, north of Swords, which caused supply issues for customers in the area last week.

“Repairs will begin at 9am and will continue until 6pm,” a spokesperson says.

“While works are underway, some customers in the following areas will experience low pressure and/or outages.

Lissenhall, Donabate/Portrane, Turvey, Batter lane/Balheary, Blacks cross, R132, Colectt, Hedgestown, Lusk , parts of Rush and M1 service stations closeby.

“Following repairs, it typically takes two to three hours to restore normal supply to all customers.”

Tselo Tlou, Irish Water, commented: “We are continuing to monitor this large trunk water main which serves a number of reservoirs in North County Dublin following the repairs last week.

“Trunk Water Mains are often described as the ‘motorways’ of the water network, and carry significant amounts of water at high pressure.

“Repair works can often cause further leaks and bursts, especially on older trunk mains.

“We understand the inconvenience and we would like to assure customers that we will complete these repairs as quickly and as efficiently as possible to minimise disruption to the local community.”

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Irish Water receive direct communications for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.

“Irish Water understands the inconvenience when a burst occurs and thanks customers for their patience while we work to restore normal supply to impacted customers.”
