Howth RNLI yesterday rescued a number of kayakers capsized and needing assistance off Malahide.

Fergus Cooney, PRO Coast Guard, Howth, said:

“At midday today the Coast Guard maritime operations centre was notified of a number of kayakers capsized and needing assistance off Malahide,” they said.

“Coast Guard Shore Rescue teams from Howth along with RNLI inshore and all weather lifeboats and two ambulances were tasked.

“The group of 6 kayakers had made it ashore and were located on Donabate and Malahide beaches.

“Rescue teams coordinated casualty care on both beaches.

“No further medical assistance was required.

“We would ask the public if they do see someone in trouble on the coast remember don’t assume someone else has made the call, dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard.”
