Keyframe 8, which took place at Coláiste Dhúlaigh on the 7th and 8th of March, welcomed guest speakers working in the animation industry to CDCFE’s Coolock campus.

Bafta nominee Aidan McAteer addressed students at Coláiste Dhúlaigh in a workshop on visual storytelling.
McAteer, who is an Animation Degree graduate from CDCFE, is currently working at Brown Bag Films.
He spoke to students about his time working on blockbuster animations like, Peppa Pig and Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom as well as a new top secret show for Apple TV.
Keyframe, which is in its eight year, gives students at CDCFE the opportunity to network with industry professionals, many of whom are former students of the college.
Coláiste Dhúlaigh’s Animation course is a four-year programme leading to a level 8 Honours Degree accredited by University of Wolverhampton.
The course has Springboard funding, meaning that many students can study free of charge.
Animation course coordinator, Kevin Lynch, said “It’s great to have Keyframe back on campus after the pandemic.
“Its really important for our students to see our graduates doing well in the industry.
“Many of the speakers told our classes about the importance of persistence, but also about being kind to their fello animators”.
Senior Story Artist at Kilkenny based Cartoon Saloon, Kayvon Darabi-Fard, recounted his career so far, from working on Hasbro’s My Little Pony with Boulder Media to his own animated project, Bramble & Feather.
Fomer CDCFE student Adam Powell also spoke at Keyframe 8 about working remotely during the pandemic and the challenges of working on Warner Bros’ cartoon Little Ellen.
