Paralympic Gold Medal winner Ellen Keane was given a hero’s welcome last night on her return home to Clontarf.

Thousands of proud local people lined the streets to show their support as she travelled in a Garda escort from her home on Dollymount Grove.

Amid much cheering and clapping, Ellen proudly showed her gold medal to excited neighbours and members of the local community.

Just over two weeks ago Ellen became Ireland’s first Paralympic gold medallist at the 2021 Games, another outstanding milestone in the 26 year old’s remarkable career.

Her stunning win in the SBS 100m breaststroke final in Tokyo was the culmination of 13 years of hard work and sacrafice since she become Ireland’s youngest Paralympian at the age of 13 in 2008 at the Beijing games.
