Balbriggan ready to roar on Lesley in Eurovision semi-final

Balbriggan will be buzzing tonight when local singer Lesley Roy steps on stage to represent Ireland at the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest.

Lesley will perform her song ‘Maps’ in the first semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam’s Ahoy venue.

Speaking ahead of tonights semi-final, she said:

“Growing up in Ireland, obviously the Contest holds a special place in my heart, as it does for many people.

“It was a very big event in my house every year, we watched and voted on each act and I became a massive fan at a very young age.

“I’m very lucky that I am from the era of Niamh Kavanagh, Paul Harrington, Eimear Quinn and Riverdance.”

Her proud hometown, Balbriggan, is right behind her ahead of her upcoming performance.

Lesley will be up against performers from Australia, Belarus, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Russia, Slovenia, Sweden, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Israel, Malta, Norway, Romania and Ukraine in tonight’s semi final.

If she gets through tonight the second semi-final will take place on Thursday, May 20 and the final will be this Saturday, May 22.
