Gardaí rescue puppies from abandoned car

Dublin People 16 Dec 2020
Gardaí in Finglas rescued five puppies from an abandoned car yesterday during a clean-up operation at a local halting site.

Community gardai were working with the district detective unit alongside Fingal County Council at St Marys Halting Site in an operation to remove harmful waste from the area when they discovered the five Collie pups housed in the car.

“The puppies lived in extremely inappropriate conditions, with no ventilation, no food or water,” a garda spokesperson said.

Gardaí were able to gain access to the vehicle and called in council dog wardens who seized the puppies under the Control of Dogs Act. The wardens got in contact with the DSPCA and the puppies are now safe.

In the meantime, enquiries are being carried out to ascertain the owner of the dogs. Gardai say anybody with information should contact Finglas Gardaí on 01-6667500.
