Shops, hair dressers, gyms, cinemas and museums are among the businesses reopening in Dublin today following the lifting of Level 5 restrictions.

Retail Ireland say they are predicting up to €1.2bn will be spent in retail outlets this month “over and above a normal month.”

Dublin Town, called on Dubliners to support local businesses during this challenging time.

“On Tuesday December 1st many business’s across Dublin will open their doors after a long 6 weeks, just in time for Christmas,” the group said in a statement.

“They need your support than ever before! We encourage people to #ShopLocal and #SupportDublinCity in the run up to Christmas.”

Following six weeks of closure some local businesses have had to work extra hard to prepare for reopening.

Extra challenges like adding additional hygiene measures to keep staff and customers safe have added to their workloads ahead of today’s reopening.
