One man arrested as €3.5 million worth of cocaine is seized in Swords

A TOTAL of €3.5 million worth of cocaine has been seized and one man arrested in Swords this afternoon.

In the course of ongoing investigations targeting organised crime, an operation was undertaken by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) which involved a search being conducted at a location in Swords, County Dublin, where a quantity of a substance believed to be cocaine with an estimated street sale value of €3.5 million, was located and seized.

One man (33) was arrested and is currently detained pursuant to the provisions of Section 2 of The Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996, at Swords Garda Station.

Speaking today, Assistant Commissioner John O’Driscoll who heads Organised and Serious Crime said: “Participation by a number of sections within An Garda Síochána with assistance provided by Customs Revenue Service in this operation, has resulted in another significant seizure of a substance believed to be cocaine, which prevents further damage being inflicted within our communities.”
