Always remember that it’s okay to ask for help

Aoibhe Conway

SOME days the walls may feel like they are closing in on you.

You may feel that there are so many worries and negative thoughts going through your mind at the same time that it feels like a swarm of bees are invading your happiness.
Your wellbeing and your mental health are really important. By opening up and talking about how you feel, it can help a lot.

Remembering that it is okay not to feel okay can be a game changer, as some people don’t believe that it is okay to talk about how they feel. But it is 100 per cent normal.
This is why three words are really important to ask everyone in your life: “Are You Ok?”

These three words take less than a minute to type and could mean the whole world to someone who may be feeling down.

It opens the conversation about mental health and let's others know that you care about their wellbeing.

I believe it is necessary to check up on the special people in your life and make sure they are doing okay because sometimes you just don’t know what is going on in someone else's mind.
There is always someone to turn to even when you feel like the world is against you and that no one cares about you.

Everyone does because you are AMAZING. You are unique and you are enough just the way you are. Don’t ever forget that.
Turn to someone you trust. That may be a family member, a friend, a colleague, a teacher, or maybe many of the incredible helplines that are available.
Please do not bottle up your feelings inside. This is not good. Talk. Talk to your friends about how you feel and ask them if they are okay too.

Let's make talking about our feelings and mental health normal and just as easy as having a conversation about designer shoes or a movie you recently watched.

Ask the question: "Are you okay?" Look after yourself, and seek the help you may need. Let's mind our minds together!
