Coláiste Dhúlaigh celebrates

A NORTHSIDE school officially launched its 50th anniversary celebrations last week. 

Coláiste Dhúlaigh Post Primary school opened in Coolock in 1969 and began offering Post Leaving Certificate (PLC) courses over 30 years ago. 

The school has continuously been serving the second level education needs of the local community by offering Junior Certificate, Transition Year, Leaving Certificate and Leaving Certificate Applied. 

Meanwhile, Coláiste Dhúlaigh College of Further Education has grown considerably over the years and has campuses in Coolock, Kilbarrack and Raheny offering a wide variety of Further Education courses to over 1,500 full and part-time students.  

Mary Hickie, Principal of Coláiste Dhúlaigh College of Further Education, thanked all past and present staff who worked in the school and college to make it the success it has been over the last five decades.

“This occasion is for the whole community to celebrate,” she said. 

Ms Hickie invited all past students and locals to visit the main celebration which will be held in the school on the evening of April 2. It will be officially opened by President Michael D. Higgins at 4.30pm. 

Neil Dunphy, Principal of Coláiste Dhúlaigh Post Primary School, said he is delighted to be involved in this celebration. He said that in his five years of being Principal it was clear to see what the school means to the local community and echoed Mary Hickie’s invitation to all. 

Corina Lynch, who is co-ordinating this special event, is promising that it will be a step back in time for former students with many year books, old photographs and students’ work being exhibited as well as some past teachers/porters and administrative staff attending on the night.
