Kilmore to honour local heroes during celebrations
Dublin People 22 Nov 2019
KILMORE West Youth Service CLG, in partnership with Dublin City Council’s North Central Area Community Development Team, Near FM, DCC Recreation Centre and St David’s CBS, are organising a major community event this Christmas.

‘Heroes of Kilmore’ will take place at Kilmore West Recreation Centre on Sunday, December 8 from 2pm-5pm.
Over the last few weeks, residents in the Kilmore West area have been given the opportunity to nominate their local hero.
On December 8, all nominees’ applications will be displayed and five special people from the community will receive an award and the title ‘Hero of Kilmore 2019’. Near FM will be on hand to interview these special people.
Madeleine Ebbs, from Dublin City Council who is involved in the initiative, said: “We are also hoping to launch the new Community Garden which is being worked on at present.
“This is a joint venture between the Community and Parks Section of Dublin City Council and the ‘Get Kilmore Going’ group.
The funding for this came from ‘Creative Ireland’.
Ms Ebbs said: “It is the most wonderful time of the year, so Santa Claus will be present in his festively decorated grotto. Each child who visits Santa will receive a chocolate treat.
“There will be some Christmas stalls offering up trinkets and treasures for you to wrap under the tree, not to mention some food pop-ups to replenish your energy levels. You will be kept entertained by the Home Farm Men’s Choir who will be performing festive favourites.”
The countdown to Christmas in Kilmore truly begins with the switching on of the lights.
“At 5pm on December 8 we will light up a Christmas tree at the side of the Dublin City Council Recreation Centre. Each family will receive a bauble to add a Christmas wish or hope.
“This is a first for Kilmore and we would hope the first of many for years to come!”
