Pottery workshops for Christmas
Dublin People 15 Nov 2019
LOCAL potter Elaine Fallon is looking forward to her third Christmas in Santry Hall Industrial Estate (Unit 10C) with a series of festive activities planned for children and adults this Yuletide.
“This November and December we are doing a series of pottery painting workshops where customers can decorate their very own set of handmade Brookwood Pottery tree decorations with their friends,” says Elaine.
Book online at www.brookwoodpottery.com.
“We are delighted to invite you to a special evening at the pottery in aid of our chosen charity the Peter McVerry Trust on Thursday, December 5 from 6pm to 9pm. Bring a friend and enjoy some wine and nibbles at the pottery, buy a ticket for our fabulous raffle of beautiful Irish craft prizes including a Brookwood Pottery artwork.
“Ten percent of all purchases on the night will be donated to this fund.
“On December 1 and 8, we are hosting the Green Door Florist for two Christmas wreath-making workshops.
“Last year's event sold out and the results were truly stunning.
“Of course, I have been really busy making pots for my customers and this year I made some vintage looking candle holders which will look beautiful on a mantelpiece this Christmas.
“I've also filled the studio with gifts from maker friends and I'm excited to stock Mr Kite Textiles, Punch and Fable Jewellery, ceramics by Tamaru Joshi Hunt, Dainty Robot felt, McNutt of Donegal throws, Clean Slate Candles among others.”
Elaine says she is proud to stock Irish and points out that all of these gifts are made by hand using traditional methods which are kind to the environment.
She adds: "Irish artists and craftspeople add creativity and diversity to our local communities and Dublin would be a much less interesting place without them.
“By buying Irish craft this Christmas, people are helping these small business survive and add colour to the cultural life of a city.”
