Cyclists blaze trail for charity
Dublin People 27 Sep 2019
AT 8.30am on September 7, on a beautiful autumn morning, an intrepid band of cyclists headed out the gates of Páirc Bharróg for a 100km cycle through the hills and lanes of Fingal.
Of the 170 cyclists, 112 were there on a fundraising mission for Naomh Barróg and St Michael’s House while the rest were cycle marshals and ‘domestiques’!
The sponsored cycle was organised and run jointly by Naomh Barróg CLG and Naomh Barróg Cycling Club.
The Páirc Bharróg all-weather facility was installed 13 years ago and is in need of resurfacing and a general overhaul. The club needs to raise a minimum of €50,000 to, hopefully, go with lottery funding.
“We are also raising funds for a therapeutic ‘Discovery’ Tricycle for St Michael’s SNS, Baldoyle, the main charity of the cycling club,” said a spokesperson.
“The day went really well with perfect weather for cycling, no serious incidents and a rapturous welcome home at the end.”
