Intrepid locals set for major challenge

FOUR Fingallian Mamil’s (Middle Aged Men In Lycra) are set to take on a mammoth challenge this weekend. 

Scott Cumisky, Eoghan Liston, Sean Herlihy and Terry Mockler will attempt to cycle non-stop individually from Mizen to Malin, the lowest possible point in Ireland to the very top of the country (620km) on one continuous cycle on September 7.

The cycle, which has been titled ‘The Sleepless Night’, is in aid of two very worthwhile children’s charities – Aoife’s Clown Doctors and Aoibheann’s Pink Tie.

These charities support and provide financial, practical and emotional support to families and children battling cancer in Ireland. They will also be promoting the services of irishblood.ie

The locals only came up with the notion of doing the cycle as a bet and a dare. However, they are not laughing now and have being training regularly for months.

The cycle is expected to take anywhere between 24 and 30 hours to complete. They will start at 9am on Saturday morning cycling continuously through the day and through Saturday night before finishing on Sunday afternoon.
