Stage school on the move in Artane

A LOCAL stage school has made a famous music school its new home.

The Sean Gilligan Performing Arts School has moved into the renowned Artane School of Music. 

The Artane School of Music provides education in music and musicianship, leadership skills and character formation. 

The school is also steeped in the history of Irish culture, predominantly known for its sensational marching band.

They have performed at the most prestigious locations and for high-profile dignitaries, such as President John F Kennedy.

Director of Sean Gilligan Performing Arts School, Sean Gilligan, also has a deep connection with the Artane School of Music having trained to play the trombone in 1992 in the Artane School of Music. 

Sean then joined the Artane Boys’ Band at the age of 10, travelling to the USA with the band in 1995 and playing in the Carnegie Hall for President Clinton.

Speaking about the relocation, Mr Gilligan said: “Moving our Artane branch of the stage school to the Artane School of Music is a very exciting move for us as a stage school to get to train and learn in such a musical and historic building. 

“The Artane School of Music holds great memories for myself as I was part of the Artane Boys’ Band as a young boy and we are looking forward to teaching the next generation of talented young people here.”
