Campaign launched to help brave Zoe

A GOFUNDME Campaign has been launched to raise funds to support the family of a Northside girl who has been diagnosed with a serious illness. 

On July 15, Zoe O’Mahoney’s parents, Carmel and Alan, received the devastating news that their beautiful three-year-old daughter has a rare and aggressive malignant brain tumour.

Zoe, from Swords, immediately underwent emergency surgery post diagnosis to have the fluid drained around her brain and within a matter of weeks will have undergone five surgeries at Temple Street Children’s Hospital to remove the tumour and prepare for the next stage of treatment.

Once her medical team is satisfied, Zoe will immediately transfer to Crumlin Hospital for chemotherapy which will begin as soon as possible. 

Following the chemotherapy Zoe will require Proton therapy (radiation) in Germany.

The campaign group, titled ‘Zoe’s Magic Wand’, is aiming to raise €100,000, and already a considerable sum has been raised since the campaign’s launch. 

A spokesperson for Team Zoe said: “We are fundraising to give Zoe’s family financial freedom to focus on the things that really matter while Zoe is undergoing treatment. Zoe’s care will be hospital-based and someone 
needs to be with her 
24/7. 

“This fund will help cover some of the many costs associated with her treatment and for her family, including taking time off work to care for Zoe, the day to day expenses in Crumlin Hospital and the costs of travelling to and living in Germany during her specialist treatment.

“We greatly appreciate any donations, no matter how small to help Zoe and her family through this awful time.”

Brave Zoe loves making her baby sister Holly laugh, her friends, playschool, Sylvanian Families (a range of distinctive animal characters), reading storybooks, singing, playgrounds and wearing pretty dresses and hairbands.
