THE Irish Special Olympics golf team held its annual summer outing at Forrest Little Golf Club, Swords, recently with nine athletes, their coaches, friends and family members enjoying a fantastic day.

The day began with a practice and coaching session on the short game practice area during which Tony Judd, Forrest Little’s PGA Professional, gave all the athletes some tips and lots of encouragement.
The athletes then had a chipping competition to three coloured flags and a very competitive putting competition on the putting green.
The athletes were very proud to show off the medals won at the World Games and National Championships and pride of place in this regard went to John Keating who won a gold medal at the World Games in Dubai earlier this year.
All the athletes then played golf on the course, with participants playing 18, nine and three holes in the company of their coaches and some family members.
Peter Knight of Elm Eagles Club and Lady Captain of Forrest Little Golf Club Imelda Dunne organised the outing.
Forrest Little also provided fantastic volunteers to help with every aspect of the day including Lady President Ann Guiden, Lady Vice-Captain Brid McGee, Juvenile Captains Blaithín Hyland and Dean Duffy, Eileen Murphy, Carmel Conaty and Laura Dooley. President Paddy Quaid and Captain Padraic Robinson were also on hand to offer their support.
The day ended with dinner and a prizegiving ceremony where all the winners received great acclaim from those present on a very special day.
