A lucky couple from Swords, surrounded by their family and friends, won their dream wedding worth €10,000 at Roganstown Hotel’s Summer Wedding Extravaganza earlier this month.

Marie Hagan and Niall Nevin, along with two of their three children, parents and friends, were ecstatic when, during the final of a Mr and Mrs Competition, they secured the main prize.

Marie and Niall, who have been together for 12 years and engaged for 10, always had their eye on Roganstown Hotel as their dream wedding venue.

“Roganstown Hotel has a lovely country feel and is close to home and Dublin Airport for our foreign guests arriving for our wedding,” said Niall.

As they tried to plan their wedding, they bought a house and then came three wonderful children, resulting in their wedding budget getting pushed to the back of the list.

When asked what this win means to her, Marie replied: “We are over the moon – shocked, overwhelmed, thrilled! Our children have not stopped smiling and our parents have not stopped crying. We are looking to set a date now in early 2020 and we already have lots of ideas from previous conversations with Caroline, the wedding planner at Roganstown Hotel.”

The competition was made possible through a partnership involving Roganstown Hotel and the Dublin People Group of Newspapers, along with suppliers including The Flower Factory and Hazel Peters Music.

The day started with a fashion shoot in the morning with Crispin Rodwell Photography, followed by a Summer Wedding Extravaganza which showcased décor by Gers Covers and The Flower Factory.

Marie and Niall were not the only winners on the day. A raffle was held for a number of great prizes which included a pair of Jimmy Choo Shoes, a €400 voucher from Dorian Grey Menswear, and a day spa from Sakura Spa at Roganstown.

Caroline Geraghty, wedding co-ordinator at Roganstown Hotel, said it was great day in the history of their wedding events.

“Roganstown Hotel has been delivering weddings since 2003 and it’s important that we move with the times and provide new couples with ideas and inspiration,” she said. “With the help of our partners, this Wedding Extravaganza has brought many new weddings to Roganstown for 2020 and 2021, but we still have dates and great offers available for couples who didn’t make it on the day.”

Roganstown are holding their next wedding open day on Thursday, June 6, and couples can book a private appointment by calling 01-8433118 or emailing [email protected]

Conor Mahon, managing director of Dublin People, along with Roganstown’s managing director, Ian Mc Guinness, presented the lucky couple with the prizewinning cheque for €10,000.

Speaking after the event, Mr Mahon said he was delighted to team up with Roganstown for the competition.

“This was probably the most significant prize in any competition or promotion we have been involved with,” he said. “There is a lot of financial pressure on young couples these days so we were happy to be in a position to partner with Roganstown for this fantastic giveaway. We hope that all our runners-up enjoyed the experience and perhaps picked up some great ideas for their big day at Roganstown’s Wedding Extravaganza.”

The team at Roganstown Hotel, who are expecting a very busy wedding season, wished Marie, Niall and their children a very happy future together.
