Mayor raises flags at local school

HARD work undertaken by pupils and staff at a Northside school yielded dividends recently when Lord Mayor of Dublin Cllr Nial Ring paid them a visit.

The Lord Mayor dropped in to St Brigid’s Girls’ National School, Killester, to see first-hand the pupils’ efforts in achieving three flags for a variety of activities.
St Brigid’s was awarded an Active Flag (their second) for doing things like drop everything and dance, drop everything and run, wake up, shake up (whole school morning dance) and they have active breaks and lots of new active resources.
They were awarded their fifth Green Flag for biodiversity after developing a school garden, a bird feeding station and they have also made an insect hotel.
Lastly, they were awarded their first Health Promoting Flag for showing commitment to mindfulness, healthy eating, being active in school and promoting a healthy environment.
The industrious children are a credit to their school and the mayor’s visit was well merited.
