An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, Alan Farrell TD (FG), Senator James Reilly (FG), Cllr Tom O’Leary (FG), Mayor of Fingal Cllr Anthony Lavin (FG) and club representatives with the Malahide Community School senior football team.

AN Taoiseach Leo Varadkar visited St Sylvester’s GAA Club in Malahide recently where he was welcomed by club officials and local Fine Gael public representatives.

St Sylvester’s previously received sports capital funding to go towards the development of its all-weather pitch.

Dublin Fingal TD Alan Farrell (FG) said he was delighted to welcome the Taoiseach to show him how the funding has benefitted the club and the local community.

“It was great to have the opportunity to introduce An Taoiseach to club chairman Patrick Miskelly, Junior Secretary Maria Hughes, along with other members of the club’s committee and also, players from Malahide Community School’s senior football team,” said Deputy Farrell.

“The all-weather pitch received €150,000 under the Sports Capital Programme.

“I also want to acknowledge the hard work of all members of the club in their fundraising efforts which provided the additional funding to make the delivery of this pitch a reality for the local community in Malahide.

“The all-weather pitch provides a great facility for members of St Sylvester’s GAA Club along with students from Malahide Community School who are also facilitated in using the pitch and the club’s amenities.”

Deputy Farrell said Sports Capital funding provides vital support for organisations and clubs in local communities in north county Dublin.

“It provides vital investment to allow our sports clubs to thrive and grow, and also to encourage more people to become more active, more often,” he added.
