Baldoyle Musical Society delight with Snow White

‘MIRROR, Mirror, on the wall, which is the fairest pantomime of all?’ Why, it’s the Baldoyle Musical Society panto of course! 

This month the hugely popular local group will stage ‘Snow White’, based on the much-loved fairy tale. It is sure to be another big favourite with kids and adults alike following on from the successes of ‘Beauty and The Beast’, ‘enTangled’, and ‘Frozen Solid’ in recent years. 

The shows will be performed at St Mary’s Secondary School, Baldoyle, over the weekends of 11th to 13th and 18th to 20th January.

Audiences can look forward to plenty of quirky plot twists, hilarious gags and lots of loveable (and not so loveable) characters in this traditional telling of the ‘Snow White’ story (with a few updates here and there!). 

Amongst the large cast of characters are Snow White and Prince Harry, Dribz and Drabz as The Funnies, Nigella the Cook as The Dame, Queen Diabolica as Snow White’s evil stepmother, and a host of woodland creatures. 

To add to this terrific family entertainment there is the usual excellent selection of song and dance numbers and the great audience participation that has become a trademark of the Baldoyle pantomime. 

The spectacle is enhanced by top class staging and effects and a live five-piece orchestra with chorus, dancers and principals numbering over 50 in total.

James O’Keeffe, a veteran of many Baldoyle productions over the years, has written the script and also directs the show. 

“It has been a pleasure to have worked with such an enthusiastic cast, chorus and production team, along with those behind the scenes involved in such things as costumes and set building,” he said. “Their hard work will be reflected in the quality of the show the audiences will enjoy.

Choreographer Karen McCourt echoed James’s sentiments. 

“Our talented chorus have enjoyed rehearsing some very challenging routines over the last four months,” she said. “The dance numbers are going to hop off the stage.”
