A LEADING fuel and convenience retailer has awarded a Northside sports club €5,000.
Clontarf Yacht and Boat Club was selected as one of the winners of the Circle K ‘Cash for Clubs’ initiative.
Being at the heart of local communities across the country, Circle K said it recognises the vital role that clubs play in providing opportunities for people of every age to learn new skills, socialise and be active.
Given the challenges clubs across Ireland face when it comes to vital fundraising, Circle K ‘Cash for Clubs’ has been designed to give clubs the opportunity to generate much-needed funds by harnessing the support of their members and the local community.
After signing up to ‘Cash for Clubs’, members collected tokens by simply topping up with miles fuel at the retailer.
Sinead Moriarty, PR and Communications Manager at Circle K Ireland, said: “Circle K Cash for Clubs was set up four years ago to recognise and reward the contribution made by clubs to their local communities.
“Since then, over 3,000 clubs from all corners of the island have registered to participate in the initiative and we have awarded over €400,000 in cash funding to 450 worthy recipients to date.
“As part of this year’s campaign, we are thrilled to award €5,000 to Clontarf Yacht and Boat Club, a deserving winner.
Ms Moriarty added: “We would like to extend our congratulations to Clontarf Yacht and Boat Club and we hope that the prize money will help them to make a difference to their community in the coming years.”
