THE NCBI Specsavers HolmPatrick Cup, which took place recently at Donabate Golf Club, saw golf clubs across Dublin tee off to compete for the chance to play in St Andrew’s, Scotland, and win the prestigious trophy.

In total, 12 teams from across Dublin competed on the day, with Stackstown Golf Club (Frank Newman and Tom Collins) coming out on top.

Brendan Smyth and Karl Herssens, from Howth Golf Club, finished second, while Eoin O'Connor and Ronan O'Sullivan, from Elm Park Golf Club, took third place. The three clubs will now go on to play in the Leinster Final of the event.

Over the past four months, the NCBI Specsavers HolmPatrick Cup has seen GUI-affiliated golf courses across the country hold qualifying tournaments from local to county level.

Now, these winners are competing in the regional finals to compete for a place at the final. The four provincial winners will play at the final, which will be held in October at the world-renowned St Andrew’s Links.

Chairman of Specsavers Ireland, Kerril Hickey, said: “Specsavers Dublin stores are delighted to be able to give back to the community and show their support. It was great to have Stackstown Golf Club, Howth Golf Club and Elm Park Golf Club competing at the Dublin City Final in Donabate Golf Club last Friday. We are proud to support the National Council for the Blind of Ireland, which is the perfect partner for Specsavers.

“We are local community opticians and hearing centres and supporting local clubs, charities and organisations is a key part of our culture.”
