TRANSPLANT Team Ireland returned home to a great welcome after their success at the European Transplant & Dialysis Championships in Cagliari.

The 23-member team won a staggering 54 medals including 11 gold, 20 silver and 23 bronze at the event.
A large gathering of family, friends and supporters turned out to meet the team when they come through the Arrivals’ Hall at Terminal One in Dublin Airport.
The Irish team, which ranged in age from 31 to 80, competed in intense heat and against strong competition on the sun-drenched picturesque Italian island of Sardinia.
The positive spirit of the Irish shone through among the 25 competing nations.
At the games, which are a celebration of life and showcase the value of sport and regular physical activity for people on dialysis and transplant recipients, the athletes acknowledged their gratitude to their donors.
Transplant Team Ireland, managed by Balbriggan man Colin White, put in strong performances at several sporting events including mini marathon, swimming, golf, bowling, pétanque, darts and track & field.
