‘Do Not Swim’ notice lifted at Rush South Beach

Fingal County Council has lifted the temporary ‘Do Not Swim’ notice at Rush South Beach.

The notice was issued last Friday due to the risk of deterioration in water quality following an emergency sewage overflow at Rush East Shore.

Samples of the water were taken on Monday and the results were excellent, according to the council.

Because of the current hot spell, additional lifeguard services are being provided at Balbriggan, Skerries, Donabate, Malahide, Portmarnock, Sutton and Howth. The normal seven days a week lifeguard service will commence as scheduled on Monday, July 2, and will continue until the end of August.

Bathers are requested to take note of flags, take care around water and obey any instructions from lifeguards.

Members of the public intending to enter the water at any beach in Ireland are advised to check the water quality in advance by accessing the EPA website at www.beaches.ie or by checking the noticeboard at the entrance to each beach.
