Scouts beat drum for big event
Dublin People 16 Jun 2018
LORD Mayor of Dublin Cllr Mícheál Mac Donncha was joined by scouts of the 80th Coolock Troop at Donaghmede Library to launch Dublin City Council’s Cruinniú na nÓg programme.

On June 23, young people in Dublin can choose from almost 100 activities around the city which will enable them to access creativity in their communities with their friends and family.
Initiated and developed by the city council’s creative and cultural teams, creative activity can be found in the city’s cultural venues, libraries and communities spaces on that day.
The event will include activities in all 21 Dublin City Libraries, led by all manner of creative professionals from the worlds of theatre, dance, music, opera, film, circus, performance, fashion, photography, visual arts, digital arts, literature and more.
Some of the projects already underway, which will come to fruition on June 23, include:
•‘ Sea Songs on the Sea Shore’, in which the Coolock scouts will join 150 other scouts on the Clontarf promenade to sing the songs that the 66u Naomh Eoin Clontarf Cub Scouts wrote with the help of musicians Donal Gunne and Eithne Ni Chathain created as part of Dublin’s Culture Connects programme.
• In the Watermarque Building in the heart of Dublin’s Digital Dockland’s, educationalist and activist Sinead Burke will lead ‘Baile Nua Cliath’, a series of creative conversations that will give Dublin’s young people a real say in how and why they engage with culture.
• Helium Arts, in partnership with the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA), will present a ‘Pop-Up Picnic’ of creative experiences for young children with complex needs and their families, alongside another series of activities for children in two of the city’s children’s hospitals.
