The Kimore girls celebrate after winning in Kilkenny.

MEMBERS of a Northside football club were celebrating recently after being crowned FAI Under 16 All-Ireland champions.

The Kilmore Celtic Girls’ Under 16 team travelled to Kilkenny where they defeated the local team, Freebooters, 4-1, in the decider.

It was a fantastic achievement for Kilmore Celtic especially given that this is only their second year together as a team.

Player of the Match Marie Keating scored a brace with the other Kilmore goals coming from Zoe Mathews and a remarkable strike from goalkeeper Rugile Auskalynte. She kicked the ball the length of the pitch and into the opposition’s goal.

Captain Chloe Darby collected the cup for the delighted Northside girls.
