Council celebrates business award 

FINGAL County Council recently won an award for its work with homegrown businesses and generating Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). 

The council’s chief executive Paul Reid and Cllr Jimmy Guerin (Ind) accepted the award on behalf of Fingal at the sixth InBusiness Awards ceremony at the Westin Hotel. 

The InBUSINESS Recognition Awards 2017 recognised outstanding accomplishments in the Irish business community. Winners were chosen across 20 categories based on the broad criteria of growth, profile of business, range of services and customer care.

Mr Reid said: “Fingal County Council value and support local businesses and entrepreneurs because we believe in the importance of investing in our local economy. 

“We have a highly educated, skilled and diverse population and workforce who with the right resources and supports can contribute hugely to progressing Fingal. 

“I’m delighted to accept the InBusiness Award which recognises the work done by Fingal County Council and its Local Enterprise Office (LEO) to support the growth of homegrown businesses.”

Cllr Guerin, a member of Fingal’s Economic and Enterprise Strategic Policy Committee, said: “It was wonderful to be present at this year’s InBusiness Awards and see the Executive being acknowledged for the work being done to advance and support local, homegrown businesses across Fingal.”

Mayor of Fingal Cllr Mary McCamley also welcomed the award.

“We have many innovative and enterprising business people who contribute to employment, tourism and the economy across Fingal and in many cases further afield too,” she said. 

“I’m delighted that Fingal County Council have been acknowledged and included in the InBusiness award for the work they do to support these businesses.”

Other winners included Dublin Port who won the Business of the Year award as well as the Tourism Award. The InBusiness Awards were held in association with SKODA.
