Raheny ladies win Junior B title

TWO years ago Raheny GAA Club’s Senior Ladies’ football team was almost non-existent due to lack of players and management.

A plan was put in place to amalgamate the Under 17 Ladies’ team with the seniors just to make up the numbers.

The team was reborn under the determined management of Jason Byrne and Ciaran McEllistrom.

Earlier this month, Raheny celebrated a fantastic 13-point win over a much-fancied O’Dwyer’s team, from Balbriggan, in the Junior B Championship final played at Na Fianna GAA Club.

Raheny controlled the game from the get-go, combining a solid defensive effort with a blistering attack which was led by All-Ireland winner Siobhan Woods who scored 2-2. In the end they won 4-10 to 1-6.

Raheny last won the championship in 2010 and several of the players on that team seven years ago were involved in the latest triumph.

The club will now be hoping the Senior Camogie team can bring back silver to Raheny too!
