Chauffeur firm drives jobs to Santry

THERE was good news on the local jobs front last week when a chauffeur company announced it is creating 35 new positions. 

Tánaiste and Minster for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, Frances Fitzgerald, visited Devine’s Worldwide Chauffeur Services’ new 10,000 square foot office premises in Santry for the announcement.

Also, the company will launch new technology on December 4 that will allow passengers to make reservations on an app and watch as their vehicle arrives, via smart phone.

The Tánaiste congratulated the company on the opening of its new premises and the creation of jobs. 

“Reliability and quality of service is what the consumer is looking for and with this new app they are moving into (the) digital age,” she said.

“Enterprises like these that are the backbone of the country.”

Colin Devine, chief executive of Devine’s, said the business is grounded in convenience, safety and discretion.

“Our passengers are time sensitive so the technology will complement our best in class reservation and pick up experience,” he said.

“It’s about enhancing the white glove service experience with just enough technology.” 

When asked for a snippet of the stories of the rich and famous he answered: “We treat stars like they are ordinary people and ordinary people like they are stars – and that is what kept people coming back for almost 40 years.”

Those familiar with Devine’s Worldwide Chauffeur Services will know them as the company who drive the world’s biggest entertainers and performers when they travel to Ireland. 

They have driven everyone from the Rolling Stones and Michael Jackson to Lady Gaga and Beyoncé.

Today the company continues its world-class service driving the CEOs and business travellers who come to Ireland to invest and build commerce around the world.  

They were also selected as the company to serve the Queen of England on her visit to Ireland in 2011. 

In 1978 the company started off with one man with a car and now boasts a fleet of over 40 cars and a staff of 60. 

Three generations of the family are now involved, with owner Mick Devine still at the helm.
