Mayor of Fingal welcomes Trudeau

Fingal Mayor Cllr McCamley greets Prime Minister Trudeau at Dublin Airport.

MAYOR of Fingal Cllr Mary McCamley welcomed Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to Ireland at Dublin Airport last week. 

Mr Trudeau was accompanied by his wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, and their young son Hadrien on his first State visit to Ireland.  

Minister of State at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ciaran Cannon, and Canadian Ambassador to Ireland, Kevin Vickers, were also at the airport to greet the Prime Minister whose visit to Ireland also included a meeting with Taoiseach Leo Varadkar at Farmleigh and a visit to President Michael D Higgins at Áras an Uachtaráin.

Speaking about the meeting, Mayor McCamley said: “It was a great honour, just a few weeks into my role as Mayor of Fingal, to welcome Prime Minister Trudeau, with his wife Sophie and young son Hadrien to Fingal and Ireland.”

As Dublin Airport is in located in Fingal protocol dictates that if the President isn’t available then the Mayor of Fingal is next in line to welcome dignitaries here.
