Malahide ladies triumph in Fingal tennis league final

GROVE Lawn Tennis Club, from Malahide, won the 2017 Fingal Ladies’ Tennis League after a dramatic win over Balrothery Balbriggan in the Grand Final hosted by Swords Tennis Club.

In the final, Grove got off to a flying start by winning the two doubles matches but Balbriggan Balrothery bounced back by winning the opening two singles matches to leave everything hanging on the outcome of the final singles match on court three.

This also went down to the wire as Grove’s Rachel Moore and Balbriggan Balrothery’s Lisa McGrane produced a fitting climax to the day’s drama. 

After losing the first set 3-6, Moore bounced back in the second to win 7-5 and then took the final set 6-4 to claim the match and a
first ever league title for Grove. The league is growing every year and it’s hoped more teams will take part in 2018.
