A NEW day care service to cater for adults with intellectual disabilities has opened on the Northside.

Praxis Care recently opened the facility in Clongriffin. It will offer valuable programmes for 17 adults with intellectual disability, autism and complex needs.
Praxis Care, registered as a charity in 1983, is a major provider of services for adults and children with an intellectual disability and mental ill health, with services throughout Ireland, UK and the Isle of Man.
Natalie Creevey, manager of Praxis Care, North Dublin Day Care Services, said the new facility in Clongriffin, will provide vital support to service users in the North Dublin area.
“We have worked in partnership with service users, their families, local building contractor Gannon Homes, HSE and Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) and a variety of local agencies to set up this new facility to meet the needs of people with intellectual disabilities to develop skills to live independently in the community,” said Ms Creevey.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved and especially our staff team for their dedication and commitment to developing this exciting new scheme over the last year.”
Minster of State for Disability Services Finian McGrath, who performed the official opening of the facility, said: “On a marvellous occasion such as today I commend Praxis Care who work tirelessly to support adults with special needs to realise their dreams and full potential, not only to participate in, but also, to contribute to their communities, enabling them to fulfil their hopes and ambitions.”
