The Swords jobs bonanza continues
Dublin People 25 Mar 2017
THE Swords jobs bonanza continued last week when another company announced a major investment in the Fingal capital.

Ireland’s fastest growing technology company, eShopWorld, said it would be creating up to 250 new high-end jobs over the next three years.
It is the third major jobs announcement for Swords in just five weeks resulting in more than 450 jobs being created.
In late February, global technology company Ricoh announced 110 new jobs as part of a €6.5 million investment in its new Irish headquarters, also at Airside Business Park.
And earlier this month, Convergys, a global provider in customer management services, announced that it is creating a further 100 new jobs at its contact centre on the Swords Business Campus.
The eShopWorld announcement coincided with the official opening of its global headquarters at Airside Business Park by Minister for Education and Skills, Richard Bruton. It is part of a €25 million investment the company will make in people, software development and R&D over the next three years as it continues to grow and expand.
It will bring total employment at the company to almost 400 staff by 2019, inclusive of 80 new jobs created in 2016.
Founder and chief executive of eShopWorld, Tommy Kelly, formed the company in Dublin in 2010 with a team of just six staff.
“We are very pleased to be adding jobs and investment to fulfill demand from leading global brands,” said Mr Kelly.
“Premium brands see our technology platform as a key pillar for growth and establishing long term sustainable relationships with brand loyal customers.
“This is a really important investment for eShopWorld and one that will further our capability to optimise our technology, driving growth through existing and new revenue streams.”
Mayor of Fingal Cllr Darragh Butler said: “Over the past month we have had some tremendous news on the job front for Swords and these new jobs will further add to the attractiveness of Fingal and our county town.”
Chief executive of Fingal County Council, Paul Reid, said the latest jobs announcement highlighted the attractiveness of Fingal to companies with a global mindset.
“eShopWorld are going to run their global business from Swords and this is yet another endorsement of Fingal as a location where companies can grow their operation and create high-end jobs,” he said.
Ed Hearne, Director of Economic, Enterprise and Tourism at Fingal County Council, said: “eShopWorld are one of a growing number of global leaders who are based in Fingal and, as a council, we work closely with them all so they can continue to expand and create more jobs in the county.
“Their expansion is sending out a very positive message about Fingal to companies that are thinking of locating in Ireland.”
Dublin Fingal TD Alan Farrell (FG) expressed delight that eShopWorld has chosen Fingal to further invest in their global headquarters in Swords.
“This investment is an expression of confidence in our community, our skilled workforce and our economy as a whole,” said Deputy Farrell.
