Celebs appear in video for Down Syndrome Centre

Today is World Down Syndrome Day. And to mark the occasion, the Down Syndrome Centre has launched ‘Mission 21’ – a fantastic celebrity video and radio appeal to raise vital funds for the charity.

The initiative involves 21 well known Irish personalities from the worlds of acting, TV, music and sport who feature in a short video that highlights the challenges children with Down Syndrome face and the supports available.

Some of the celebrities involved include Imelda May, Cian Healy, Mario Rosenstock, Amanda Byram, Keith Duffy, Brendan O’Connor, Aidan Turner, Charlie Murphy, Miriam O’Callaghan, Padraig Harrington, Gavin James, Lorraine Keane, Domhnall Gleeson, Una Healy and Kevin Kilbane.

In tandem with the celebrity video, the Down Syndrome Centre’s media partner, Classic Hits 4fm, are driving a fundraising appeal on all of their shows between now and March 24, culminating in a live broadcast of ‘The Damian Farrelly Show’ from The Down Syndrome Centre on the final day.

The charity is asking people to support the campaign by texting ‘DSC’ to 50300 to donate €4 or by logging on to www.downsyndromecentre.ie to make a donation.

‘Mission 21’ is a play on Trisomy 21 which is the most common form of Down Syndrome. The initiative is proudly supported by FLYEfit Gyms.
