Another jobs boost for the Northside

THERE was another welcome boost on the jobs front for the Northside last week when Convergys, a global provider in customer management services, announced that it is creating a further 100 new jobs at its contact centre on the Swords Business Campus.

The company, which is also based at Woodford Business Park, Santry, delivers customer service and technical support services to BT broadband and phone customers in the UK and has already filled 150 jobs since it began recruiting last December.
Last month global technology company Ricoh announced 110 new jobs as part of a €6.5 million investment in its new Irish headquarters at Airside Business Park, Swords.
Fingal County Council said it welcomed the news.
Its chief executive Paul Reid said it was another major boost for the county, and in particular Swords.
“This is the second big jobs announcement for Swords in the past fortnight and is another endorsement of Fingal as a place to do business in,” said Mr Reid.
“Convergys have been based here for over 15 years and have found a skilled workforce in Fingal that matches their requirements and has allowed the company to expand its operations.”
Ed Hearne, Director of Economic, Enterprise and Tourism at Fingal County Council, said: “Convergys are just one of many global leaders who have based their Irish operations in Fingal and, as a council, we continue to work closely with them all so they can expand and create more jobs in the county.”
Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Darragh Butler, said it is more great news for Swords and Fingal.
“The creation of these jobs will be a major boost to the local economy,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ricoh’s new headquarters at Airside are focusing on core areas of its business: managed document services, communication services, production print, business process services, software solutions and professional services.
