LOCAL community and voluntary groups have been given a boost following the launch of a free training and information programme.

Fingal Public Participation Network launched its Spring Information and Training Programme at a meeting of Fingal County Council.

The Public Participation Network (PPN) brings together all voluntary groups and organisations working in Fingal.

It facilitates the two-way flow of information between these groups and

Fingal County Council and enables people to influence plans and policies for the future development of the county.

Principal Community Officer at the council, Pat Queenan, encouraged local groups to attend the sessions.

“Voluntary groups are the backbone of communities in Fingal and need to be

supported,” said Ms Queenan.

Sinead Wiley, resource worker at Fingal PPN, said: “We are very excited about our Programme as the training is practical and we feel this programme has

something for all groups from funding, communication for community groups, promoting and increasing new members, information on the new Fingal Development Plan and an opportunity to feed into the

Fingal Library Development Plan.”

The programme, which began on February 28 in Blanchardstown, comprises six free Information and Training events over the coming months.
