Arson suspected as Malahide Sea Scouts’ boat destroyed in blaze
Dublin People 12 Jan 2017
A RARE boat owned by Malahide Sea Scouts was destroyed this week in a suspected arson attack.

The BP18 ‘Sandycove’, which was built in the 1970s, is thought to have been set ablaze in a mindless act of vandalism.
The sea scouts and their leaders are said to be devastated by the loss of one of their longest serving boats, which has introduced countless young people to sailing over the years.
‘Sandycove’ was the 12th BP18 ever built and only one other similar boat now remains in Malahide.
In a statement on their Facebook page, Malahide Sea Scouts said: “Our volunteers work very hard to provide this great equipment and experiences to all our young people and we hope none of our friends and supporters encounter these unscrupulous individuals who were low enough to attack their local scout group.”
A full report on this shocking incident will be carried in the next edition of Northside People.
