Girls just want to have fun at Baldoyle United
Dublin People 30 Sep 2016
THE Girls’ section at local football club Baldoyle United is thriving thanks to the dedication of its volunteer coaches and the enthusiasm of the local youngsters.

The club decided to add a Girls’ section when more and more Baldoyle girls wanted to play the beautiful game with a local club.
After just two years the club has girls’ teams at Under 10, 11, 12 and 13 levels. Under UEFA qualified coach Justin Reilly, the club’s Under 12 team won the Metropolitan Girls’ League last May. Two of the team, Ella Hevey and Eva Ward, have been selected for the prestigious FAI Emerging Talent squad which sees the cream of Ireland’s female footballers receive specialist training.
The club also has a dedicated Girls’ Academy for 5-11-year-olds every Saturday morning at its astro pitch on Brookstone Road.
The FAI and Fingal Community Club of the Year 2015/16 also caters for boys of all ages from eight to its league-winning over 35 side.
And the AUL side recently saw ex-Westlife star Nick Byrne sign for the club as a goalkeeper with huge interest from football and pop fans across Ireland and the UK.
Baldoyle United Football Club’s Boys’ Academy, for ages 4-7, runs every Saturday from 10am to 11am with the Girls’ Academy at 11am to 12noon.
Just drop in to the Brookstone Road astro pitch.
The club will also be running its popular Halloween Camp on November 2 and 3.
